The last 21 years have been exceptional for UVA SunSystems and SunMaster® thanks to customers like yourself, and I wanted to let you in on a what we have been working on over the last 3 years:  The SunMaster Custom Shop®.  More information is coming soon, but I wanted to at give you a personal introduction to this new way of building home tanning beds.

The SunMaster Custom Shop is a part of the main production plant in Jemison, Alabama. For years, we have conducted research, testing and product verification there. Additionally, we have been creating unique tanning beds for select clientele. This includes different lamp combinations, colors and features that are not offered on our Standard or Signature Series beds. Our custom beds have always been more expensive but exceptional quality.

Beginning in 2006, we will be opening up the Custom Shop to the public to allow larger numbers of people to purchase these unique tanning beds.   At first, we will offer only specific models that are built in the Custom Shop, but eventually, you will be able to completely custom design your own tanning bed, choosing the lamps, color, trim and more.  This has to be done slowly in order for us to maintain the highest quality standards that the Custom Shop is held to.

What does this mean for people who want to buy Standard or Signature beds?  You will be benefiting from the expertise and research done in the Custom Shop, guaranteeing your regular SunMaster is an exceptional tanning bed.  This tradition will not change.  As a matter of fact, we will be upgrading the standard SunMaster beds with some new innovations that were pioneered in the Custom Shop, without increasing the price.

What about people who want custom made tanning beds?  You will have to wait a little longer before you can custom build your own tanning bed.  We are currently upgrading equipment that will allow us to increase production of custom made beds.  Because quality is first and foremost, Custom Shop beds will never be high production models.  They will always be hand built, one at a time, by only the most experienced technicians and artisans in the industry.  Our goal is to begin taking new custom orders before Jan 1, 2007.

The Custom Shop will take over production of our premium tanning beds, such as the Limited Edition, Special Edition and Leg Tanning Edition beds.  This includes major upgrades in electronics and lamps, but we will keep the prices the same as before.   Additionally, we will introduce a couple of new limited release models like the Custom Shop 24 Plus.  These will be limited production, and will likely not be around all year.  By limiting the production of these models, we can guarantee the highest quality.  By releasing them as a "Prebuilt Custom" bed, we can produce enough total systems to make the prices very competitive with generic tanning beds.

Custom Shop beds will always cost more than a regular SunMaster or a generic Wolff tanning bed, and they are not for everyone.   For those who want the absolute best in a home tanning bed, the Custom Shop offers an alternative that is just $200 to $800 higher than a standard type system, depending upon configuration.  Most people only buy one tanning bed in their lifetime, so we expect that experienced home tanning enthusiasts will see the obvious benefits to buying these premium systems.
